Elizabeth Teague, the Development Services Director for the Town of Waynesville, will share the latest developments on historic preservation initiatives being undertaken by the Town.
We will also nominate and elect Board Members and review our end-of-year financial report.

Alex McKay and Bruce Briggs will present a PowerPoint presentation on the History of Main Street in Waynesville.
We will also nominate and elect an At-Large Board Member.

Following the meal, we will enjoy a program performance by Richard Hurley. Richard grew up in the Dutch Cove area of Canton and is an accomplished songwriter. He will share the stories of Western North Carolina mountain heritage that inspired him and will sing songs that embody the heritage and history of Haywood County. One of his most popular songs tells the story of the B-25 Bomber that crashed on Cold Mountain in September 1946. You can learn more about Richard and his music at www.richardhurleymusic.com.

“Open Mic” Meeting

The program will be an “Open Mic” opportunity in which HCHGS members will be invited to “show and tell” about their historic item and/or share the interesting discoveries they have made while doing genealogical research.
