During October, church leaders and clergy from several United Methodist Churches in Western North Carolina assembled at the Shook-Smathers House to worship together and celebrate the history of the Methodist Church.  It was all recorded on a 48-minute video that has been posted to YouTube.  The video includes a tour of Shook-Smathers House led by Rev. Nancy Dixon Walton, as well as prayers and sermons given in the third floor “upper room” of the House.  HCHGS member and Shook descendant Liz Shook Peterson also appears in the video presenting a “Heritage Moment” that captures the historical significance of the third-floor chapel.  The video can be found on YouTube by entering the following words into the search box: “Abernethy and Oak Hill Worship for 10-11-2020” or through this link.
